Sports and Remedial Massage
Sports Injury Remedy and Event Recovery
Sports and Remedial Massage: Is There a Difference?
Yes there is! As the names suggest one is tailored specifically to deal with a sport; that is the type of sports involved and the muscles that need the most attention to improve ones performance and recovery.
Therefore in Sports Massage there is more likely two forms of massage in itself; one in preparation for an event and one for recovery.
Remedial Massage on the other hand is one dealing with recovery from perhaps injuries sustained in work, sports or play! It can involve a general all-over massage or is aimed at specific areas that are affected or that affect the injured muscles or part of the body.
How Do I Chose Which to Receive?
Your trained Osteopath/Physiotherapist will know after an initial discussion and 'exploratory massage' which is required for you; and it may be they see the need for both at differing times or appointments.
Do I Need to See a Specialist?
In the past most practitioners were trained in one of a number of areas as wholesale cross-education was not available. However most modern practitioners are trained in a number of areas of massage, osteopathy, chiropractic and physiotherapy. This is only logical given the co-relation between the various practices and the variety of requirements for each patient.
Your trained practitioner at Spinefit Osteopathy can help you to both understand your own needs and what is required to treat them.
The conveniently located offices of Spinefit Osteopathy cater for Perth and its suburbs with one facility in South Perth at Rosmoyne and one in Mandurah.
